Climate: Continental Mediterranean. Warm and dry days with large daily temperature amplitude.
Soils: Shale
Grape Varieties: 40% Rabigato, 40% Arinto, 15% Galego Dourado and 5% Esgana Cão.
Winemaking: Manual harvesting. This wine results from two types of fermentation: skin maceration with temperature control and co-fermentation in used french oak barrels. Battonage for 6 weeks.
Ageing: 50% of the batch was aged for 10 months in 600L French oak barrels (barrels that were 2 years old).
Tasting Notes: An unusual blend of grape varieties, but one that results in an excellent wine full of notes of flint, fresh herbs, lemon and orange peel, with slight bitterness adding character. Dry and austere, persistent, with great potential to improve in the bottle as well.
Winemaker: Luís Louro and Inês Capão.
