Quinta da Devesa Vintage Port is an exceptional wine, produced from carefully selected grapes of the best plots, exclusively from the estate. Vinified traditionally in granite lagares, the ageing process occurred in oak vats before bottling, between the second and third year. It’s a distinct Vintage, with powerful aromas. Sweet and light on the opening. A knockout nose of ripe raspberry and strawberry, a gentle whiff of spirit, fresh wildflowers, chewy with plum, grenadine, tar and later some tart blackcurrant flavors. The mid-palate coming closer to balancing the pure power. The tannins have very nice grip, which anticipate an ageing in bottle of superb quality. It may throw some deposit and should be decanted before drinking.
Grape Varieties: 65% Touriga Franca: Southern exposure at an altitude of 300 meters. 35% Tinta Barroca: Northern exposure at an altitude of 400 meters.
Tasting Notes: Deep and intense dark ruby colour with violet reflections. Opaque at the core, displaying remarkable youthfulness, concentration and ageing potential.
Expressive and complex nose, opening with generous aromas of strawberry preserve and ripe red fruits. It gradually unfolds into elegant floral notes of violet, layered with hints of dark chocolate and damp forest floor, recalling dried leaves, moss and wild vegetation. On the palate is broad, silky and engaging on entry, revealing concentrated ripe fruit. The tannic structure is firm and well-defined, providing depth and balance throughout. Flavours of red fruit preserve intertwine with cocoa notes and subtle earthy nuances, creating a wine of complexity and character. Vibrant acidity brings freshness and length, while the tannins assert their presence and promise excellent ageing potential. Long finish, persistent and refined, that leaves a lasting impression of elegance and distinction.
Vinification: The grapes from our Quinta are harvested by hand in small containers and taken to the cellar. Vinified traditionally, spontaneous fermentation occurred at temperatures between 20ºC and 24ºC. Maceration lasted approximately 7 days after fermentation stopped. This process produces a wine with excellent extract. Aged in old wooden vats until bottled in the second year after the harvest. Quinta da Devesa vineyards are managed using sustainable agricultural practices, dry farmed, in accordance with the Sustainable Agriculture Integrated Production guidelines, certified by an independent organization.
Temperature: Decant and serve at 16ºC.
