Post Scriptum is a wine with a profile similar to that of Chryseia, originating from the same vineyards and characterized by expressive and concentrated fruit, combined with great balance and elegance. After a shorter aging in wood, it is ready to be consumed young.
Grape Varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and other varieties, 15% from Quinta de Roriz and Quinta da Perdiz in Douro Cima Corgo.
Viticultural Year: Abundant rainfall in the first half of winter reversed the severe drought of 2022, satisfactorily restoring soil water levels. Although the period from February to April was exceptionally dry and mild, periods of intense rain in late spring, in May and June, sustained the plants throughout the ripening cycle. While much of Europe faced extreme heat waves during the summer, July temperatures in Portugal were close to normal and, in the Douro, slightly below average. Despite virtually no rain in the region in July and August, reasonable soil moisture, combined with comparatively moderate temperatures, favored good acidity levels, balanced ripening, and good phenolic development. Perfectly timed rains in early September provided an excellent start to the harvest, which took place under excellent conditions during the first half of the month.
Winemaking: The grapes from the selected plots of Vesúvio are harvested manually in 20kg boxes. In the winery, an initial manual sorting of bunches is carried out, followed by gentle destemming. The whole berries are then sent for a second sorting stage before being gravity-fed into fermentation tanks, where they are gently crushed. Fermentation is closely monitored, with temperatures and maceration movements adjusted to obtain the full potential of the grapes. The aim is to produce a balanced wine with expressive fruit, harmonious in flavor, and retaining the good aging potential characteristic of Douro red wines.
Aged: 12 months in 400L French oak barrels of second and third year.
Storage and Consumption: Ready to drink, although it has high potential to evolve favorably in the bottle.
Winemakers: Bruno Prats, Charles Symington, Pedro Correia and Miguel Bessa.
