Quinta de Val da Figueira is located on the right bank of the Douro River, near Pinhão, in the heart of the Douro Demarcated Region. The property appears on the famous map of Baron Forrester and dates back to the mid-18th century. The main vineyard area of the Quinta has been in the current owners' family for three generations, with some adjacent vineyards belonging to them for five generations. The average annual production is around 110 barrels.
Grape Varieties: 80% Malvasia Fina, 20% Códega de Larinho.
Age of the Vines: 15 years
Soil: Schist
Grape Cultivation and Winemaking: All grapes are sourced from the property. The wines are vinified in granite lagares (traditional stone troughs) using foot treading and temperature control.
Ageing: 5 years in oak barrels.
Bottling: All wines are bottled on the property.
Tasting notes: Color: Bright golden yellow. Nose: Medium intensity, notes of white flowers, ripe guava and white raisins. Palate: Sweet and full-bodied with medium acidity to refresh the whole. A good, persistent finish with notes of almonds.
Serving suggestion: This wine was bottled unfiltered and should be served with care. It can/should be served chilled, neat with a slice of lemon, or with tonic water. Excellent with toasted almonds.
