Quinta da Devesa Branco 80 Anos

José Fortunato Júnior was a winemaker passionate about White Port. He acquired Quinta da Devesa in 1941 due to its exceptional location with a diversity of sun exposures, altitudes and prevailing winds, which enabled the production of a unique range of White Ports. This exclusive limited-edition wine comes from a very small number of casks that until this year have been exclusively reserved for the family; unique treasures from Antónia and José Fortunato Júnior’s legacy. Today Quinta da Devesa continues to be an independent family Port Wine producer and is honoured to share the experience of enjoying this special and unique wine with Port Wine aficionados all over the world.

Tasting Notes: An astonishingly rich golden colour, the hue you see when watching the sun set over the ocean from the beach at the mouth of the Douro. The smell of the wine wraps itself around the senses with a sweet, perfumed honeysuckle scent. So thick in texture, the wine oozes across the palate. The sweetness of the honeysuckle is married to a wonderful dried apricot yet the two intense flavours are balanced by an exciting acidity which keeps the palate fresh and focused, revealing just how much acidity the wine must carry, but it is the orange marmalade fruit and floral perfume which persist for minute after minute on the aftertaste and finish. There is an incredible concentration and intensity to this wine, yet it also manages to maintain the perfect balance. This is truly a fitting tribute to the memory of José Fortunato Júnior and his legacy of family wines.

Vinification: This 50 Years Old Port is obtained from a selection of grape varieties recommended for the Douro region. The ageing process occurs naturally over the years, in oak vats at Quinta da Devesa cellars, thus resulting in a darkened colour.

Temperature: Serve at 14ºC. Once opened, preserves its good tasting notes for at least 2 months.
