Made to be enjoyed around a good plate of food, this red wine will bring harmony and balance to everyday meals as well as special occasions. It is not trying to be the best wine in the world, but one which is inviting, fresh and fun, charming the palate with its Douro character and simplicity. In order to retain all the wine’s vivacity, only a small amount of wood was used in the ageing process.
Grape Varieties: Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela. Average Vine Age 10 to 40 Years.
Soil: Schist
Tasting Notes: Bright, expressive aromas of intense red fruits lead the nose, layered with delicate floral notes. The palate is rounded and polished, showing purity of fruit and a supple, harmonious texture. Subtle hints of graphite add definition and finesse. A classic Douro red in style: elegant rather than powerful, well-balanced, and effortlessly drinkable, with broad appeal and a refined, lingering finish.
Vinification: After arriving at the Quinta de Nápoles, the grapes were carefully destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures for approximately one week. A portion of the wine was matured in French oak barriques whereas the rest of the wine remained in stainless steel for about 6 months.
Ageing: 6 months in barriques and stainless steel tanks.
Gastronomy: White meats, pasta and vegetarian dishes.
Winemaker: Dirk Niepoort
