Vintage Year: Quinta da Romaneira successfully navigated one of the most challenging agricultural years, marked by high temperatures and a lack of rainfall, managing to produce wines of exceptional quality. The 2022 growing season was marked by record temperatures that frequently exceeded 40°C, presenting significant challenges to the vines' growth cycle. However, the strategic timing of the harvest and careful vineyard management helped maintain the health and quality of the grapes. The robust performance of varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Sousão, and also old vines was particularly impressive, as they comfortably withstood the extreme climate. These conditions contributed to the production of wines with intense color and structured varietal character. These grape varieties contributed to a Port wine production that stood out for its purity and intensity. The 2022 Port wines are characterized by their deep color and complex aromas, a testament to the meticulous care in vineyard management and harvesting. Quinta da Romaneira's ability to not only maintain but enhance the quality of its red and port wines in adverse conditions underscores our commitment to excellence.

Winemaking: The grapes were foot-trodden and fermented with stems in traditional lagares (traditional stone troughs) with temperature control at 28º, where disciplined and intense foot treading is essential for a good final result.

Ageing: Careful aging for 20 months in the Quinta's cellars in the Douro Valley. To achieve the full complexity and characteristic bouquet of a Vintage Port, it is recommended that the wine age in the bottle for 8 to 15 years, allowing the wine to evolve and develop the characteristics associated with fine Vintage Port wines.
