Granito Cru Alvarinho Branco 2021

Granito Cru wine, as the name implies, seeks to show the soil, the vineyard and the region, for this the vinification is carried out in a non-interventive way, without resorting to selected commercial yeasts or bacteria, only sulfur is used and in very low doses. Its vinification is inspired by the ancient methods where wines were fermented in old wood – 500 liter barrels or small vats and remained there until bottling. The grapes are from the Melgaço Region, in the parish of Paderne, the small vines over 25 years old are located between 50 and 150m altitude with exposures from North to West. Pruning is traditional using a descending cord and pergola.

Sub-Region: Monção-Melgaço

Soil: Sandy loam of granitic origin.

Tasting Notes: Golden color, mineral wine with aromas of stone fruits and some exotic fruit, pear, aromatic notes of orange blossom and honey, and spices such as white pepper. In the mouth it is fresh and balanced with volume and great depth, the wood appears very well integrated, almost imperceptible, ends long and full.

Gastronomy: Oysters, seafood, creamy sauces, butter base dishes, risottos, and white meats. Aged cheeses.

Vinification: The grapes were de-stemmed and crushed without the addition of sulfur prior to the pressing no maceration was done, the wine decanted at low temperatures for 48 hours, fermentation and ageing took place in oval 1000 liters used oak vat and 5th year old 2000 liters oval vat of eastern Europe oak. The indigenous yeast alcoholic fermentation was done in less than three months and malolactic fermentation was complete. The total ageing was done with no sulphur during 12 months in the presence of the lees, but without steering them and more 5 months in stainless steel. Naturally stabilized wine. It may form cristal sediments.
