"For two years I searched in the whole of the Alentejo for the best vineyards to make my wines. Only in 2011 did I finally find two parcels in Portalegre, a much cooler area than the rest of the Alentejo territory. A traditional vine that it brings together a wide range of traditional grape varieties of very low production that adds an unusual freshness and complexity, and a 100% Alicante Bouschet vineyard, which provides power and structure. From the combination of these two plots, a unique and extraordinary wine was born. "
Grapes: 55% Alicante Bouschet, 45% Traditional Grapes from Portalegre.
Tasting Note: Very dark red color, almost black. The notes of ripe and intense fruit, although without any excess ripeness, to which is added tobacco, graphite and a mineral background, appear accompanied by a slight vegetable suggestion that adds an unusual complexity and tension. Alive and powerful, austere but delicate, it surprises by its lively but serene tannins, ending fresh and vigorous thanks to a well integrated acidity.
Winemaking: Manual harvest, for 20kg boxes, with strict selection in the cellar. Vinification in small capacity stainless steel presses with temperature control. 16 months aging in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new barrels and 70% used barrels.
